Vulnerability enables leadership. I have seen dramatic shifts in groups after a moment of vulnerability. Even a little bit of vulnerability goes a long way.
The best way I know to ease the discomfort of confronting fear is to talk about it. When I am vulnerable and talk about my fears, I am showing I am confronting my fears. Talking about fear will normalize the fear at some level.
When you have the courage to be vulnerable, you will make it safe for others to do the same. When the people you lead confront their fears, growth and innovation become possible!
So, if you felt vulnerable today: you might be a leader.
You’ve got this.
