For most of my career, I have witnessed a decline in companies focusing on their people. I’ve seen training budgets slashed, increased pressure on delivery at all costs, and sacrificing product stability for the sake of getting it out early.

What makes your business successful? The people who work for you. The people who buy your product. The partners who help you succeed.

Recently, I’ve read numerous articles where CEOs are saying they no longer care about shareholder value. Have companies neglected their people for the sake of shareholder value so long that we are now at a tipping point?

What I believe is, if you are not focused on your people and customers, you will have a problem. Maybe not today, but at some point, you will have to confront bigger problems then shareholder value.

Focus on the people and help them grow and succeed. If people grow and succeed, they will make your business wildly successful.

You’ve got this.
