A leader once came to me exhausted by the effort it took to lead their team. The leader didn’t feel they could ever disconnect, and they had to be involved with everything.

When I hear stories like this, my starting point is to ask “what might be different if you let your team do some of the leading?”

Two heads are better than one, applies to leading as much as anything else in life. The question is, what do they need to enable them to lead with you?

When you get involved with something, start by asking yourself a few questions. Could they have taken care of this without me? What would have allowed then to take care of it without my involvement? Information? Trust? Support?

You’ve got this.
