There’s a trap I’ve seen good leaders fall into when they start a new job or team. They quickly begin to evaluate what’s going on and making changes.
The problem is that their arrival on the scene is disruptive. People don’t know or trust them, and then without sufficient information, they get more disruptive by changing things.
Rather than evaluating and starting to change things, you might try asking questions and listening. You might even ask for the team’s input on how to fix problems.
It’s what leaders do.
