I spend a lot of time helping groups of people become great teams. I’ve tried lots of approaches to team development, and there’s one thing they all have in common:
You can’t hurry through team building and get a good outcome.
The strength of the team will be commensurate to the amount of time you invest in teambuilding. When you rush through it, you might end up with a loosely formed group rather than a team.
So, what is the right amount of time? There is, of course, no correct answer to that question. You’ll feel the resonance once you’ve done enough.
And, what’s the worst that could happen? You didn’t spend enough time and get to spend more time with it.
Truthfully, team building is an ongoing activity. The cool part is that your investment will pay itself back with dividends.
You’ve got this.
