How often do you hear statements like “fail fast?” There was a time in which it seemed I heard the phrase several times per day as leaders tried to motivate their people.
When you think about it, what are leaders asking for by using such statements? Do you really want people to fail? Nothing good ever happens as a result of a failure. Sure, people learn from the experience, but you’re not getting the results you want from failure.
Rather than using the latest buzzword or phrase, talk about the outcome you want. Innovative solutions, helping each other grow, and eliminating wasteful practices are far more exciting than failing fast.
Use plain language when you encourage, coach, and mentor people as they go after a great outcome. They’re more likely to go after the right goal.
You’ve got this.
