I once asked an executive team to write down their greatest fear. The team sat, looking at me in awkward silence. Finally, one of the leaders broke the silence by saying, “I don’t have any fears.”
You are not leading if you do not experience any fear. You inadvertently hold yourself and others back when you deny your fears.
Embrace the discomfort of your fears and talk about them. When you talk about your fears you will find it easier to move through them. When people see your courage, they will find their own and push through their fears as well.
When people are confronting their fears, they will learn and grow. Doesn’t this sound more like leadership then denying you have any fears?
You’ve got this.
