I once took a job with a company I knew was struggling. It was a great job, and I was willing to do my part to help make things better. My boss was always pushing us to work hard for the next piece of revenue.

Eventually, I found myself burned out. When I talked to my boss about it, he shrugged it off as just the way it is. The pushing continued, and so did the struggles. Eventually, I found I no longer cared about the job and quit.

There are times in leadership; you might find yourself asking your team to go the extra mile, or asking for overtime to make something happen. However, be aware that you might push them into not caring about the job if you push them too far and too long. Then what would you have?
