One of the challenges of my work is the vulnerability that goes with putting myself out there so much. I often feel vulnerable in activities like publishing something I wrote, leading a workshop, or doing a live stream.

I love when someone engages in a debate of ideas. The debate offers me the opportunity to see something differently. I think such debates speak volumes about the other person as I assume they’re open to learning and a diversity of ideas.

However, someone who judges or criticizes me personally is a different story. When this happens, and thankfully it hasn’t happened too many times, I remind myself this isn’t about me. There’s something going on for the other person which I’ve triggered.

When someone criticizes or attacks you, start by reminding yourself this isn’t about you. Don’t attack them in return. At most be curious and ask some powerful questions.

You’ve got this.
