Do you sometimes beat yourself up when you make a mistake? I sometimes do, and I can be quite tough on myself. How could I be so stupid? What made me think of doing it that way?

When you make a mistake, it’s a sign that you’ve reached the limits of your best. It doesn’t make you stupid or incapable. It just means you have something to learn from the experience.

The next time your team makes a mistake, try asking: What if they just reached the limit of their best? What’s needed to get them past this point? What support could you provide that will energize them into growing?

Better yet, ask them how to get past the point?

You’ve got this.
