Lots of people are talking about things going back to normal. I know the feeling, as at the start of the pandemic, I also wanted things to return to normal. Now, though, I want something better than normal, and I’ve been working on creating it for myself.
For example, what if I valued family time over chasing the next customer? What if I valued more time in nature over doing more work? What if I only did the things which bring me joy and fulfillment, including the things I call work? If I have all those things, I know I’d have something better than normal.
Stop talking to your team about things returning to normal. Instead, ask, “how can we make things better than they were yesterday?”
Inspiring others to move forward is what leaders do.
You’ve got this.
