Leaders limit the power in diversity when they value people going with the flow or fitting in. When this happens, people will conform, tell leaders what they want to hear, and not make waves. The downside to valuing people who fit in is you won’t hear people’s best ideas.

The best ideas come forward when you allow for different perspectives, even if they create waves. Be aware of your response to the ideas people share. Does your response come from a limiting mindset which limits how much they share? Or, does your response leave them feeling heard, even if you don’t agree with them?

How is your response to different perspectives impacting your team? Are you encouraging diversity or limiting the flow of ideas. One leads to innovation and the other to stagnation. It’s your choice.

You’ve got this.
