I make mistakes. In fact, I make mistakes daily, and I’m quite proud of this fact. The reality is people are making mistakes every day. Sometimes, they’re little mistakes best summarized with an “oops.” Other times they’re big and require a facepalm.

The best thing I ever did for myself was to permit myself to make mistakes. When I did this, I no longer had to worry about protecting my ego. Permitting myself to make mistakes meant I can more quickly put aside the shame of making a mistake. Shame is a mindset that can leave me spinning or putting effort into hiding the mistake.

It’s far easier to let the mistake go and move on, having learned from the experience. Sure, sometimes the shame sneaks in again, but then you get to let it go again.

You’ve got this.
