How much do you expect of the people you lead? The only thing you can expect of anyone is that they’re doing their best. It’s fair to expect them to bring all of their skills, knowledge, and experiences and do their best.
What, then, do you do when you think someone isn’t doing their best? How would you know they’re falling short of their best?
Start by examining your mindset. Are you evaluating others because of the pressure you’re feeling? Are you holding them to your standards, rather than theirs?
Or, are you wanting to help them do their best work? Isn’t that what it means to do your best? Your mindset can make a big difference in what’s going to happen next.
