I once chose to sacrifice my health and freedom for the sake of getting that next promotion. I put in countless extra hours and sacrificed a lot of sleep. I even believed that being promoted meant sacrificing what I believed in.
In the end, I got the promotion. Do you know what happened next? I started to pursue the next promotion.
After years in this pursuit and sacrificing what I believed in it finally happened. I burned myself out.
There is a cost to sacrificing who you are. There’s an even higher cost to not look after yourself through sleep, diet and exercise.
