How often do you focus on your comfort? Like most people, you likely think about your comfort several times every day. Unfortunately, though, when it comes to learning and growth, you have to get uncomfortable.
Fixing my aches
If you’ve never been for massage therapy, you might be thinking of an idealistic and relaxing experience? Spa-like music playing softly, a couple of candles burning, and warm oils?
For me, while such a massage sounds wonderful, it would only help me fall asleep.
I want to do the work needed to get to the source of a problem and correct it. I don’t care how uncomfortable it gets during the session.
Simply put, without discomfort a massage therapy is not going to improve much.
Leadership and growth
I was thinking of the similarity between massage therapy and leadership during my last treatment.
In leadership, we sometimes need to dig to find the source of a problem. It might get uncomfortable, but sometimes it’s the only way to get to the heart of the matter.
Comfort is highly overrated.
You’ve got this.
