A leader once told me he wanted people to do what they were told. The leader didn’t feel he had time to hear others ideas. I told him if he didn’t have time to hear their ideas, then he also did not have time to succeed.

Everyone has ideas. One of the jobs of a leader is to create the conditions for ideas to flow. The more ideas you hear, the more likely you are to get to where you want to be.

Encourage and make time for everyone to share their ideas regularly. Build on ideas, even if an idea sounds ridiculous. A simple approach to building is to say “Yes, and …”, and add to the idea.

Harness the creativity of everyone’s ideas, and you will all succeed.

You’ve got this.
