Respect is, “a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.” – dictionary.com

Being able to respect others starts with you. If you do not respect yourself, you will struggle to trust your ability to respond and take action. The problem is you can only trust others, as much as you trust yourself.

To start with, stop dismissing compliments and acknowledgements. You build internal respect for your abilities, qualities and achievements when you can accept compliments. Accepting a compliment or acknowledgement means simply saying “thank you” in response.

Then, take time every day to reflect and journal on your abilities, qualities and achievements. Make a list of how you have had a positive impact today.

Now, sit back and celebrate the impact you had today through your abilities, qualities and achievements. How could you not respect someone who had such a big impact today?

You’ve got this.
