Who are the people you want around you? The ones just like you? Or, the people who fill in where you are weak.
In many corporate environments, leaders are expected and rewarded for having all the answers. So, it might leave them feeling vulnerable not to be the one with the answers. Someone might even perceive others having the answers as a threat to their leadership.
As a leader, your job does not involve holding all the answers. Your job is to help others use and grow with their strengths. When you let others’ strengths shine, you increase the power of the team as you fill in each other’s gaps.
When you support other’s strengths where you are weak, you increase the likelihood of success. Kind of sounds like a sign of great leadership, don’t you think?
