A manager I once worked for spent a lot of time learning. While learning is, of course, a good thing, the problem is how he would often discount other people’s ideas in favour of his own.

I remember going to a conference and returning with a few ideas I wanted to experiment with. My ideas were shot down, with statements like, “that sounds good in theory, but hardly practical in the real world.”

Everyone you encounter has spent a lifetime collecting knowledge, ideas, and experiences. You will never know what you’re missing if you’re not open to learning from them.

Encourage your team to share their ideas regularly. Be open to learning from their ideas, as some of them will be the gems that change your world.

You’ve got this.
