I once worked with a leader who seemed to be imitating Steve Jobs. His efforts to imitate showed up in how he dressed, his explosive temper and even how he demanded respect. The difference is that this leader was doing more damage than good.

I read about leadership all the time. When I read, I think about the qualities which define the other’s leadership. I might even think about what I might do differently in their place.

The key ingredient to your leadership is in the uniqueness of you. Your core values, personality, stories and much more are the filters by which your leadership shines. When you try to imitate another, you will be out of alignment with what makes you a uniquely powerful leader.

The world does not need your imitation of someone else’s leadership.

The world needs the uniqueness of your leadership.
