A manager hired me after telling me he wanted my knowledge and experience on the team.

It didn’t take long, though, to realize this manager pushed his knowledge and experience on the team. And, he would become upset if we didn’t follow his advice.

It was frustrating as I took the job thinking I could make a difference. But in reality, my influence was minimal given the interference by the manager.

As a team leader, hire people smarter than you. Give them the conditions for success and trust them to do the job.

You were smart enough to hire them. Why not trust them to do the job you hired them for.
