I was heading to a meeting to talk about a thorny issue with a Vice-President. For me, I was about to do something bold and felt confident I was about to be fired.

In hindsight, my clients often turn corners when I think I’m about to be fired. The client turns the corner because I’m doing something bold and taking a stand in service of them. Being bold, at times, is a part of being a leader.

I’m not saying I always have the right answer. However, bold moves can get teams looking at different perspectives. From a different perspective, they will find their right answer.

One day I might be fired for a bold move. However, I wouldn’t be leading if I’m not willing to risk it all. That’s OK as I know not everyone will follow me.

You’ve got this.
