I once told my boss I didn’t like how much travelling I was doing. I loved the work and the people. However, being gone so much was a problem as it took me from my family.

I resigned sometime later citing the amount of travel. I felt powerless to change the situation, so I went somewhere else. My boss said he was surprised and that I should have told him.

Listen to what the people around you are saying. It is nice to hear all the good things and a gift to learn what is not. Take responsibility for all you hear. Taking responsibility does not mean you will always agree or be able to do something.

However, do not forget their perspective is their reality. When people do not believe you are hearing their perspective, they might find a solution of their own.
