Do you know that feeling when you walk into a room and instantly sense something is wrong (or right)? Such feelings are information, and it can point to something needing your leadership.

These types of feelings will still exist when holding virtual meetings. However, you have likely lost this sense at other times as you cannot walk by a team’s space.

There are some things you can do to regain your senses:

  • Meet for 30 minutes with each team member regularly. Talk about how they’re doing, rather than what they’re doing.
  • Hold a daily social call, in which the team comes together just to hang out and chat (again, not about what they’re working on)
  • Share how you’re feeling to demonstrate that it’s OK to talk about how they’re feeling
  • Hold silent working times. Just like when you sat next to each other – everyone working away without the need to be talking to each other

The information is still out there. You just need to do something different to find it.

You’ve got this.
