There are only 209 Shopping days until Christmas! OMG, that means winter is coming too! Before you know it the temperatures will be dropping, the snow will be flying and we’ll all be back to complaining about the weather.

I’m writing this while sitting in one of my favourite places, my back yard. It’s a beautiful spring morning. The birds are singing, the sun is making the pollens in the air visible, and just a few moments ago a Robin was in the plant about 6 feet from me. The air is a just a little cool, but that’s nothing a light sweatshirt won’t fix.

This moment is near perfect as I find it easy to be in the moment. The fact winter will return is irrelevant to me at the moment. Sometimes I get caught up focusing on the future, and I miss the beauty of life that is all around me right now.

Take today for example. Today we plan to get our boating gear ready for an upcoming camping trip, I need to get some things ready for the working week ahead, and I’m pretty sure I’ll do some more writing. Maybe I’ll put the stairs in the pool as we get ever closer to swimming season.

Regardless of the things I do today, I want to make sure I don’t forget to live for today as well. That means taking some time to slow down and just notice the abundant life that is all around me.

Thought of the week

Regardless of where you are today, what are you doing to enjoy the life that is all around you today?

I know there are people reading this newsletter who have all sorts of career types. There are retired people, truck drivers, business people, musicians, social workers and more. Some of them work from home, while others go into the office every day. Regardless of what you do, I know it’s too easy to get caught up in the future.

For the next week, my request of you is to take some time every day to reconnect with the world all around you. Where-ever you need to rush off to will still be there, and I’m pretty sure the world won’t end if you slow down for a moment.

Find somewhere where you can be in nature. It’s everywhere when you look for it. Even parking lots are full of nature. Go out to your backyard and enjoy how the life you find there. Go to a nearby park and sit quietly under a tree for a bit. Stop driving at the next rest stop, and spend a little bit of time listening to the birds in the trees nearby.

Where ever you do it, just take a little time to enjoy the life all around you today. Otherwise, it might be too late and winter will be here.
