Years ago, while working as an employee, I would occasionally take mental health days. These were the days where I was mentally exhausted or stressed and needed a break.

The problem is, I usually hid the truth about these days. I now know I was feeling shame about taking a day where I wasn’t physically sick.

I keep hoping shameful mindsets about mental health were a thing of the past. However, someone recently told me how they were hiding the truth about a mental health day.

The impact of mental health is well known and documented. This bullsh*t stigma about mental health needs to end. Talk about mental health with your team. Make it safe to use sick days for mental health as much as physical health.
