Forming a team is ideal when the work is bigger than one person can handle and requires people to take shared responsibility for the outcome.

So, what do you do if the team will only be together temporarily? Does it make sense to put the energy into forming a team?

The answer is always yes. Granted, you won’t get as far, given the temporary nature of the team. However, to create the best possible outcome, you will still want the team to be aligned.

When you bring them together, spend the time having a conversation about why they’re together. Don’t tell them, instead give them information and invite them to share what it means to them.

Creating alignment through conversation is the first principle of teamwork. Don’t skip it.

You’ve got this.
