Often, people talk about value from the perspective of something delivered to their customers. However, people don’t often think about the exchange of value between a company and its employees.
Employees give value to a company with their efforts, knowledge, and experience. Companies provide value to their employees in many ways, the most obvious being the employees’ compensation. For many people, though, the money is only a small part of the value they would like from their employer.
A great working environment, opportunities to learn, and flexibility can hold tremendous value to people. Receiving support in difficult times, such as the pandemic or a personal crisis, can be invaluable.
There are many ways value is exchanged between companies and their employees. Do you know what value your team wants? I wouldn’t assume it’s all about the compensation.
