I am writing this post early one morning while sitting on the shore of Cedar Lake in Algonquin Park. It’s beautiful out this morning, yet there’s a thin fog present on the lake. The trees on the far side have taken on a dull green colour, and it’s almost as if the vibrancy of life has been dulled down temporarily.
The good news is, the breeze is coming from a good direction. When the wind comes from this direction, we have beautiful days here. The air will be clear, and there will be lots of sunshine and warmth. So I know this fog will not last.
Much like the day, I’m anticipating here today, I know I have been waiting for a breeze to pick up and bring some clarity to my life too. The problem is I’ve kept finding excuses to stay in the fog, and not accept a breeze into my life. So I’ve been hanging out in this fog for the past while. To be honest, it’s easier here because I can just go with the flow and hope for the best.
It’s not the first time I’ve been here, and I doubt it will be the last. For me, I see the fog as a sign that I’ve grown, and it’s time to think about who I am and the direction I’m heading. Simply put, given my expanded view of myself and the world, what is the impact I want to have in this world?
To get out of my fog, it starts by not trying to do so much. I know it’s important to slow down a bit, as it will provide the headspace for doing the work that will clear the fog I’m living in.
I’ve hired myself a new coach, and in the coming months, I am committing to myself to dig into the work I need to do to establish my business focus. The work with my coach has already started and let’s just say I love where it’s going so far!
In the meantime, I will continue moving forward, just at a more reasonable pace. I have lots of great clients I work with every week, and that work will continue. I’m looking forward to what’s coming in the future and will share more as I have it.
Thought for the week
Do you find yourself moving through a fog some days? I do see it as a part of life, but it’s certainly not a place I like hanging out in or accepting as normal.
If you find yourself moving through a fog, ask yourself what purpose is this fog serving for you. Is it a warning? Is it a sign of growth? Is it an indicator of some kind. I told you how I see things when I’m in my fogs, and I want you to find yours.
Once you understand your fog and how it shows up in your life, it’s time to decide how you’re going to get out of this fog. Life is wonderful when you’re living in the sunshine, so go for it! I’m not saying you need to be out of this fog tomorrow, but what steps can you take to start moving again?
