I heard a story recently of a company who installed monitoring software on their staff’s computers. The monitoring software will report how many minutes per day their staff are working while at home.

Obviously, this company has a pretty severe trust issue with their people. These trust problems existed before the pandemic. The only thing the pandemic did is to amplify the problem.

Challenging times tend to reveal the truth about your team’s culture. Take the time to pause and notice what’s going on. Bring the team together to talk about their experience and observations.

Then, look for the opportunity to improve one thing every day. I think you’ll find that through this you’ll arrive on the other side of this better for the experience.
