People look in mirrors to get feedback on themselves. I’m guessing for most of us we look for what’s wrong. What would be the impact of looking in the mirror at what is right? To look and simply say, “Wow, you look great today!”

In the book “Nine lies about work,” the authors explain how positive feedback is more effective than negative feedback. Yet, it is negative feedback that receives the most airtime?

The book explains negative feedback is necessary and helpful. However, positive feedback is 1,200 times more effective at helping others improve. This is why they recommend you give 3-5 positive pieces of feedback to every one negative.
