What would you like to see more of from your team? Collaboration? Personal responsibility? Quality in the outcomes?

Whenever there’s something you want more of, start by looking at how you or the environment might be preventing it from happening.

Take, for example, collaboration. How would collaboration be impacted when team members are all reporting to different managers, had individual performance bonuses, and are held accountable in different ways?

All of those things are more likely to cause a team not to collaborate.

What if all of those factors were for the team instead of individuals? A team would be more likely to feel they’re in it together and collaborate as together they succeed or fail.

When trying to help your team do something better, start by looking at what might be creating the problem in their environment.

I think you’ll find change easier when you fix the real problem.

You’ve got this.
