In my days as a project manager, I would often tell people how I never failed. This statement was true, given what I was trying to be; a manager. Unfortunately, though, I was failing at being a leader.

Leaders are continually trying to take themselves and others to unfamiliar and risky places. We all want to hear about the success stories. However, what about all the failures on the path to success?

Your leadership might be absent if you, or your team, never fail. Failure is a sign you are heading into new territory when it comes to improvement, growth and innovation. Without failure, you will never reach the heights you desire.

So, don’t beat yourself up the next time you fail at something; you might just be a leader.
