From an early age, there is a good chance you were told who you should be. There are many ways this happens, and in most cases, it is done with good intent.

You should get a good job. You should marry, buy a house and raise a family. You are too much, so you should tone it down.

Despite the good intent, your most powerful leadership is in who you actually are. Look for the places you feel uneasy, uncomfortable or checked out. Now ask yourself, what you are doing or not doing to create this feeling?

The same is true for the people you lead. Help them see their stories, and give themselves permission to not let those stories run the Show any longer.

I’m willing to bet you’ll love what happens next. This includes you.

You’ve got this.
