One of the questions I often ask a new client is, “Why does this company exist?” Usually, I will hear about the company mission statement, increased shareholder value, or the product they deliver. While all valid answers, none of them will help you be wildly successful.
What’s missing is a purpose that speaks to people’s heart. It’s the type of purpose statement that makes a room full of people gasp or smile.
If your company does not have a heart-felt purpose, then create one for your team. Have a conversation with your team and ask, “Why are we here?” Ask powerful questions and keep digging until you hit that answer which makes the room gasp or smile.
Teams who have a heartfelt sense of purpose are the most successful teams I know.
